What is Pearn's Steam World?

Pearns Steam World is a collection of agricultural equipment from the Meander Valley with a special emphasis on Steam Power but ranges from early hand tools to the machinery of the early 1960’s. Sections that tell of family life and our model railway means that this is not just for those who are interested in old farm machinery.

Model Train Rides

The museum’s 7 ¼ inch gauge railway is available for rides most days. There is no extra payment for the rides following payment of the museum entrance fee. The engine pulling the train might be electric, petrol or steam powered depending on which of the volunteer drivers is on duty that day.

Steam Experience Days

Pearns Steam World offers steam experience days for those who really want to get their hands dirty and work alongside a licensed steam engine driver for a day. Whether it be on a full-sized traction engine or steam roller, a portable steam engine where no climbing up is required, or maybe a model traction engine, times and dates can be discussed to suit availabilities. Prices are negotiable based on engine and hours.

Pearn's Women On The Land Exhibition

Women On The Land

We strongly acknowledge the role played by women in the agricultural industry – and not just in the home. This display tells of life on the land from the women’s perspective. Curated by the ladies of the Association, it includes stories of real life and activities.
